HFW – 8 Bishopsgate, Level 7-9

MSL were appointed for the full MEP Design Coordination and Installation contractors carrying out the first Fitout at the iconic 8 Bishopsgate building across levels 7-9 for an established law firm client.

The works consisted of a New commercial kitchen on Level 8  with a Supply AHU and Fire rated extract fan distributing  Fire rated ductwork to existing smoke extract riser.  New & Relocated 4pipe FCU’S distributed through all 3 floors,  VAV boxes serving fresh air onto the floor plate with Public health services serving Kitchen, Pantry and local Tea points.   Supply and Extract ductwork was installed through with the majority of services exposed.

New Lighting was provided throughout supplemented with feature lighting in the marketing suite.  New small power served Floor boxes, Grommets and desk modules from new Distribution boards via UF busbar track.  A UPS system was installed for IT backup power and a LV panel was installed for commercial kitchen appliances.

Dolphin Square

Mectric Solutions were appointed to carryout the MEP services to the Gym and leisure area which Mechanically comprised of new Heating and cooling, ASHP, supply and extract air via MVHR, BMS,  LTHW pipework, Domestic BCWS, and public health.

The Electrical Element comprised of LV Distribution, General power and lighting,  Lighting control, AV&PA, Data, Fire Alarm and Access control.

The Project was executed within the 24 week programme and was designed in 3D Revit model by Mectric Solutions Design team.

Christopher Addison House

The project was a full 4 floor BIM level 2 fit
out inclusive of Boiler Room, VRF Air
Conditioning, Air Handling units for supply
and extract air, numerous toilet cores,
shower rooms and multiple Kitchenettes. A
new cold water tank and booster set was
also supplied to increase the mains water
pressure throughout the building.

Our electrical department undertook the
installation of small power, lighting, lighting
control and lightening protection.

Whitecross Street

Client: Corley + Woolley

Duration: 22 Weeks

Mectric Solutions were appointed to carryout the Mechanical services to this project.  The services comprised of Supply and Extract Ventilation system from a basement stacked AHU which discharged at Ground level via an Acoustic enclosure supported by MVHR units on each floor. The system was installed with a DX floor mounted FCU system for Heating and cooling throughout the demise and all services were exposed so the coordination process was key to the delivery of this project. 

Hendon DWP – Boiler Upgrade Works

Mectric Solutions were appointed by ISG working with the Department of Work and Pensions, to carry out the installation of a new plant room at the Hendon Job Centre.

New boilers, pumps and associated plant were installed, along with new pipework and wiring inside the plant room to supply the buildings heating requirements. A new hot water calorifier was also installed to supply the buildings hot water.

The services comprised of:

  • New heating system including boilers, pumps, and associated plant.
  • New heating pipework including flow and return and low loss headers.
  • New hot water calorifier along with circulating pump.
  • Pipework insulation.
  • New gas supply from the gas meter cupboard to the plant room
  • Supply and extract ductwork to roof mounted fan.
  • New flue installed in existing chimney stack to roof.
  • Power and lighting.
  • BMS Controls.
  • New distribution board.
  • Water treatment and commissioning.
  • Provided temporary heating to the building.

Kennington DWP – Boiler Works

Mectric Solutions were appointed by ISG working with the Department of Work and Pensions, to carry out the installation of a new plant room at the Kennington Job Centre.

The existing plant, pipework, and wiring within the plant room were removed. New boilers, pumps and associated plant were then installed, along with new pipework and wiring inside the plant room.

The services comprised of:

• Removal of existing plant and pipework inside the plant room.

• New heating system including boilers, pumps, and associated plant.

• New heating pipework including flow and return and low loss headers.

Ashridge House – Phase 1

Mectric Solutions were appointed by Knight Harwood working with the National Trust, to carry out the installation of a new restaurant/café and commercial kitchen area.

The services comprised of:

  • Removal of existing pumps and heating pipework inside sub-plantroom.
  • New circulating pumps for existing and new heating pipework.
  • New LTHW system supplying radiant panels and radiators throughout the restaurant.
  • Installation of new domestic hot and cold services throughout.
  • New above and below ground drainage.
  • CCTV, speaker, and WIFI containment and wiring.
  • BMS modifications and BMS field wiring for new plant.
  • New distribution boards in kitchen and seating areas.
  • Water treatment and commissioning of all new pipework.

Chelsea Crescent

Mectric Solutions were instructed to carry out the MEP works at Chelsea Crescent Harbour which consisted of modern feature lighting throughout, assisted WC installation, fire alarm and data access control. 

The heating system was updated with modern LTHW radiators and the lighting was controlled via a Lutron lighting control system. 

This beautiful concierge and reception area space was constructed within 10 weeks and with a tight programme. The finished product was stunning and resulted in a very happy client.

Kia Oval Cricket Ground

The old stand was completely demolished, and works have been carried out on the new stand.
The 6,300 seats in the new stand will increase the grounds capacity to 25,300 – allowing even more cricket fans to enjoy Test Matches, One
Day Internationals and Surry games at the Kia Oval for many seasons to come.
As well as the seating capacity, the space beneath the stand created a large concourse for the Kia Oval with many new toilet, bars and catering facilities which further improves the customer experience for the hundreds of
thousands of cricket supporters that visit the Kia Oval every summer.
Mectric Solutions Ltd worked closely with Bennetts construction, to work on the project, to design, install and commission new works.
We carried out all Mechanical and Electrical works, working to create new toilet blocks, above ground drainage, and an 8,000 litre potable water tank for water provision. In addition, Rain water pipes were provided and
installed as well as Extract Fans, Ductwork, Air conditioning, power, lighting and all electrical containment works.
We also installed a bespoke fire alarm system for the stand, along with PA systems.
Once the works were complete we carried out a series of tests and commissioned each system, and provided certification. This was a
phased project which spanned 5 months from start to finish.

88 Wood Street

As part of a complete office refit; Mectric Solutions were contracted to carry out the supply and installation of 60 new fan coil units, inclusive of BMS integration and supply air, install 4 new WC cores with 2 DDA’s and replace existing lift lobby area ventilation.

Using our great relationships with suppliers and subcontractors Mectric were able to slash lead times during procurement and upscale labour during a tough COVID period. This made it possible to deliver our usual high quality of workmanship within an 8 week period; two weeks earlier than programmed

RFIB – Level 12 30 St. Marys Axe

Client: Square Metre

Duration: 14 Weeks

Mectric Solutions secured its first project with Square Metre at London’s iconic Gherkin building, undertaking the full Cat B M&E works on Level 12.
The D&B project scope included for full strip out and install of HVAC and electrical services, all within a tight 14 week programme.

Within the new HVAC services were Swegon AHU’s, Mitsubishi Electric VRF, Ability Fan Coils, along with mods to the existing BMS, Sprinkler system and fire alarm.

Along with new HVAC services, a brand new Dali Controlled lighting system by Delmatic along with Scene setting services were installed within the modular offices to complete a stylish and sleek design.

The project was managed by our in house M&E site team delivering this prestigious project on time, allowing the client to move into their new office space on schedule and extremely happy with Mectric Solutions workmanship.

Crown Office Chambers

Knight Harwood instructed Mectric Solutions in August 2018 to undertake the M&E works for the Crown Office Chambers refurbishment in Embankment, London.

Crown Office is one of Britain’s leading set of commercial Barristers Chambers in England, set in Temple along the River Thames, requiring an office to match their high quality, flexible and modern approach to business.

Work included AC/Ventilation, Domestic Hot & Cold water services WC areas, small power and lighting, sub mains, tea point, data access control, CCTV and fire alarm.

Mectric Solutions experience and expertise in Commercial CAT B fit out
was crucial, In designing and providing a modern, slick work space
throughout.

The project was managed throughout the installation by our in house M&E site managers, working alongside Knight Harwood to deliver the CAT B fit out on time.

Rio Tinto – St. James Square

The Rio Tinto project is an office alteration for the Rio Tinto Group in the historical St James’s Square, London.

The Rio Tinto Group is one of the world’s largest metals and mining corporations.

Therefore a smart and efficient workspace is paramount for all aspects of running a business on this scale.

Mectric Solutions Ltd were employed to develop the existing systems already in place to bring them up to the next level.

This included alterations to the Mechanical systems, consisting of Ventilation, Heating and Water systems, and Electrical systems including Lighting, Power and Data. With changes to the Lighting Controls and BMS to suit the new design.

All these works were carried out efficiently and professional by Mectric Solutions to a standard that is fitting of an office for the highest of clients.
Both the Main Contractor and the Client were very pleased with our work and expressed great interest in working with us again in the future.

Boeing HQ – Victoria

The Boeing project is a prestigious office location to the Boeing Company and the Headquarters for the “Boeing in the UK” and “Boeing Defence UK” divisions.

Boeing is the world’s leading aerospace company and the largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft.
Therefore an office space that works for a company dealing in areas as large as this is crucial.

Mectric Solutions Ltd were contracted to undertake the mechanical and electrical works required on this project. Our wealth of experience and expertise in the commercial sector meant we could deliver the office space that Boeing required to the standard a company like theirs expects.

The project blended existing and new across multiple phases meaning that productivity to the business was not lost whilst the office space was transformed.

Lighting, Data and Comfort systems were vital for this office space and all systems were integrated seamlessly as managed by ourselves.
